Germany and UK in the clinch with the EU in the background
PM
Johnson spoke with PM Merkel of Germany. He says she told him that his new
proposals are unacceptable. Officials deny she said it this way but, as she
doesn't make public what was said, she said it.
President Tusk is
angry that this may destroy the EU. He should know that Brexiters don't mind
and many even hope for the end of the EU.
Before the
referendum Mr
Johnson said the EU wants to become a superstate under one authority, just as
Hitler did (it also shows how Brexiters speak about the poor while
Remainers are in general in favour of austerity). Now he claims that Germany
said that Germany has the right to leave the EU but the UK cannot in its
entirety because of Northern Ireland. Indeed, as if Germany refuses the UK its
right to leave under Article 50. But, we should not forget that Northern
Ireland is part of the UK, not part of Ireland nor the EU as the EU is an
organisation that unites countries on a voluntarily basis and thus, as long as
the UK exists as it does today N Ireland is part of it. The EU should
understand that even in N Ireland many consider themselves as British and
refuse to see themselves as part of Ireland. And when the EU and its members
insist N Ireland can break away from the UK to remain part of the EU than any
other region has the right to break away from its own country such as Catalonia
from Spain.
A no deal may in the
end be the best as no-one wins although it seems PM Merkel said the EU may be
able to stop N Ireland from leaving the EU to avoid troubles on the island of
Ireland. Does she want war with the UK by suggesting to take away part of another
country's territory. Maybe she didn't say this, in that case she must make
public what she said or she shouldn't complain opponents say she'd said this.
Germans still doesn't seem to understand how hated they are among part of the
English (and others) of whom many still know about family and friends who died
fighting only a few decades ago to destroy Hitler's German Third Reich while
afterwards the liberators of Europe were denied access as founding country of
the EU and later again and again the UK had to fight against the German and
French partnership that seemed to push the EU in the direction these two
countries wanted. And, to make things worse, certain politicians think that the
EU should become even more integrated just as Brexiters warn the EU may become
a superstate under one authority that dictates its members to balance their
budgets. Indeed, many think it's prophesied the EU is the rise of the evil
Roman Empire before its final defeat to never rise again and for this reason
must oppose it. You may think this is a joke but it's not; remember Ann Widdecombe
speech in the EU parliament about the oppressed who stand up against the
oppressor while she fails to understand she speaks evil with her hate speeches
against the EU but also often against for instance LGBTs. It's also the reason
why certain leaders in the US and Israel
consider the EU is wrong and oppose it.
Therefore, this is
is not my opinion but reality. I remember when I worked at King's College
London how a student, thus someone around his 20s, told me how Germany wants to
rule the UK and therefore uses the EU. And thus this telephone call between the
German and UK PMs can be used to further blame Germany. Read certain comments
of Brexiters under posts that discuss the good of the EU in which they don't
acknowledge the EU as a voluntary collaboration between countries who were ones
at war but about a fascist and nazism empire that wants to take away
sovereignty from countries to control them. And thus, for them they must leave
the EU and when possible even destroy it. For some it's hate and the longer
Brexit continues the more hateful and angry they become they are part from
something they don't wish. Unfortunately but out the EU, and certainly not when
the EU may decide it no longer wants the UK in is also not much of a solution
because than the other side becomes furious and may blame the EU for stopping
the negotiations and abandoning them.
Therefore, I've come
to accept that always more integration and more Europe as some wish is a dream
to remain a dream as it angers people. On certain issues countries will work
together while on other issues some countries may act together and some issues
are local matters and others don't need to interfere. It is flexible. But, it
is flexible whereby the capital not always knows best and can remain silent? Is
this possible on a continent with centuries of centralised powers?
