(15f) Afghanistan, three years after the return of the devils

Image
Wednesday, 15/08/2024 Three years ago, the angels who liberated Afghanistan from the devilish Taliban and al-Qaida after they attacked the USA that resulted in nearly three thousand dead Americans, and after earlier attacks against the USA in other nations, those angels were defeated by the same devilish Taliban although al-Qaida was no longer involved after senior leaders such as Osama bin Laden were killed. Instead, a new force named Islamic State Afghanistan rose who are at the same level, some say even worse, as the Taliban. In the past I have written a history as Westerns know about 50 years of Afghanistan , about 50 years of suffering whereby the years under USA rule were not the worse years. Therefore, many Afghans who realised a defeat of the Western forces was imminent, tried to escape and those who were able to leave Afghanistan were lucky as the return of the Taliban equalled a return of human right abuses, and just as during the first rule of the Taliban especially women su...

(15e) Afghanistan, 50 years of hell and no end in sight

Image
Since before August 2020 and still , many discuss America's involvement in Afghanistan as the USA retreated from Afghanistan, together with its allies. Certain people voice happiness as the USA seems to be defeated and they hope the USA may collapse, just as the Soviet Union did not long after it retreated from Afghanistan, and as many other empires did before in that troubled country. For the world, I hope the USA is not defeated as a power as we still need it (without saying the USA never made mistakes such as support of dictators). Publications condemn the West for having left Afghanistan and even suggest the Russians were not as bad as Western policies. I do agree we should have help Afghans who helped the West during the occupation as these people are now at the mercy of the Taliban. But, I do not agree that we need to provide help when people didn't accept freedom when it was in the country and even fought against it and killed Western soldiers. In this publication I sta...

(15d) Testimony by a man who was a journalist in free Afghanistan

Image
Carpet salesman Bilal Sarwary whose parents fled Afghanistan when he was a child, lived in Pakistan and witnessed the terrorist attacks on America that resulted in the occupation of Afghanistan by the USA. In the immediate aftermath he went to Afghanistan as a translator for foreign media but later became a journalist to report about Afghan life under the American military presence. Now that the Taliban are back in power in Afghanistan, the journalist was told his life was in danger and he and his family had to leave Afghanistan, again. Here he writes about his 20 years in Afghanistan , when the Taliban were out of power. I include some of my comments on his article, although I accept I never lived there. In italics is  text taken literally from the article.  Before the USA invasion, people lived in fear while after the Taliban was gone Mr Sarwary writes:  " Within hours, people were lining up again outside barber shops to have their beards trimmed. Rhythmic Afghan music ...

(15c) Testimony by a woman who was a journalist in free Afghanistan

Image
Female Afghan journalist - end of career in her homecountry Short introduction Zahra Joya is a female journalist who reported on Rukhshana Media about the unfair treatment of and violence against women by Afghans during a time when the Western forces were still in the country. She had to leave Afghanistan after the return of the Taliban. She lived in the capital Kabul although travelled throughout her country to report on women's treatment.  She describes it wasn't easy to be a female journalist, even not in the USA occupied country, as men assumed a woman doesn't speak but she did, although she had to demand again and again the right to ask questions at press meetings; you may expect the male journalists would understand after a few press meetings she too wants to ask questions. Now she and family had to flee the country as Taliban fighters were looking for her. Mrs Joya is one of many strong woman, even as a girl when she dressed like a boy, with support of her parents, ...

(15d) Previous USA President Obama gave advise

Image
Former USA President Barack Obama hit the hammer on the nail when he spoke at a Democrats fundraiser event . Democrats should stop mourning the loss of the presidential elections 2016 and start to say what they may do when in power. Analyse why then Mr and now President Donald Trump won the elections and find solutions that are better and include almost everyone in society. Otherwise, those " who are " today will be those " who were " tomorrow as the recent N.Y. democratic elections demonstrated when the main candidate lost from an inexperienced "socialist" Democrat . Still, whatever solution, some people will have none of them except the most extreme. Therefore, politicians should stop to listen to and talk with almost exclusively only (multi)millionaires and billionaires to hear their solutions, i.e. more tax reductions for the rich to stimulate the economy and more penalties for those who don't work, including seriously ill people . Those wealt...

(15c) Mr Obama and (dis)trust in governments

Image
Indeed, governments should aim that people trust them to avoid anger. For me, the way to do this is not by blocking contend on the internet but via openness by governments whereby they should respond to misinformation while the information they publish can then be checked by professionals and the general public, including opponents. Of course, hateful messages that aim to hurt people should be blocked but with an explanation why. And thus, blaming Russia for the victories of Mr Trump or Brexit is (I think) rubbish because there was sufficient information on the internet and media and via direct contact between people with discussions amongst politicians, experts and the general public so most people were sufficiently informed to vote as they did; this is confirmed by the fact that opinion on these (and other) matters changes only little. Only when access to information is blocked is it understandable that people think as their leaders indoctrinate them to do as they don't have oth...

(15b) Europe and immigrants

As a result of increased immigration into Europe, certain Europeans are starting to show their real face. On the one hand, European countries and the EU are urging Turkey to open its borders so more Syrian migrants can enter Turkey to escape war but on the other hand, Europe is doing everything possible to close its own borders, even threatening own member states such as Greece with removal from the Schengen zone if the country is unable to keep the refugees (= people who escape war) out of Europe. If Greece is removed, Europe will achieve what it fears, i.e. that the immigration crisis may result in the end of the Schengen zone while already individual EU countries decided to close their borders to prevent migrants from entering their territory. Some countries don’t even seem to be able to accept that Greece, one of the poorest countries in Europe, isn't able to close its border (without using violence). Still, although Europe forced heavy austerity on Greece, it is amazing t...
