Who are often the biggest enemies of progress for women apart from the obvious men who try to secure their own positions at the top? Indeed, women.  First of all, I understand why certain people are anti-abortion as they cannot understand that a woman doesn't want her baby, someone who should be someone to look forward to according them. Still, certain of these anti-abortion people are not interested in babies, for them this is a religious political issue to gain votes. It is similar with certain powerful politicians who claim people should not divorce but they have extramarital relations their partner doesn't know about; for the public eye they seem to be faithful but in practice they are not although they are not divorced. Female Afghan journalist - end of career in her homecountry Short introduction Zahra Joya is a female journalist who reported on Rukhshana Media about the unfair treatment of and violence against women by Afghans during a time when the Western forces were still in the country. She had to leave Afghanistan after the return of the Taliban. She lived in the capital Kabul although travelled throughout her country to report on women's treatment.  She describes it wasn't easy to be a female journalist, even not in the USA occupied country, as men assumed a woman doesn't speak but she did, although she had to demand again and again the right to ask questions at press meetings; you may expect the male journalists would understand after a few press meetings she too wants to ask questions.   QAnon and the #metoo movement, similar but o so different as QAnon is a conspiracy theory movement that "lower class" people believe as no-one else listen to them; and yes, talking about an elite of vampires doesn't help the case. Still, these people can include now adults who were abused but their testimonies were not believed and thus they experienced a "real" QAnon of people in power who protect each other and convince the majority that the people who say this are idiots.   Compare with the recent #metoo. This is a movement of mainly female celebrities such as film stars, politicians, students at universities who were and sometimes still are forced to accept certain things they don't like (such as sexist jokes, being touched and even have sex without consent). I wrote a number of posts about abortion and why it should be possible in exceptional situations such as after rape, to save the mother's life when things go wrong and when the foetus has a serious illness. Abortion shouldn't be another way of birth control as for this contraceptives should be used although I understand the pregnancy may be an accident and thus unwanted or the mother doesn't have the finances to support a child. A growing  opposition to abortion is worldwide , including in Europe and the Americans but again and again people protest against stricter laws such as earlier in Spain  and Alabama . I also understand people who oppose abortion as it concerns unborn children; unless when it concerns a foetus with abnormalities because people who love children don't want that people will suffer their entire life after birth. Friday, 08/03/2019 (but also Saturday in some shops) was international women's day. Indeed, still an important day as long as women have fewer chances (in many countries around the world) and earn less for the same work. It is partially understandable that fewer women are at top positions because mainly men progressed in the past who don't want to sacrifice their own career in favour of women. However, the difference in wages is difficult to understand as one may assume that each company has at least guidelines what people earn in a certain position, certainly at the start of their career. But yes, in the private sector, men may ask quicker a (bigger) increase in wages or threaten to go to another company. If men are valued higher or are seen as more ambitious because they are more aggressive in their demand for higher wages, than indeed, companies will agree with higher wages for men than for women.
