Gay Pride Brussels

Image
As usual in May, Belgium Pride took place in Brussels. Indeed, as you notice, in Brussels Pride is early, but again, just like last year we were lucky with the weather: sunny although a little cold (but then, what do you expect in Belgium in early May?). Pride was quite fun. I met up with Kurt and Jethro and we had a nice day. I wore something different from what I normally wear: a pink shirt with green bow tie. It suited me although I say it myself but otherwise I would have worn it. Of course, there were many people, and some of them were interesting: either in drag, with strange clothes or bare chest. Unfortunately, most were in ordinary clothes: t-shirt and jeans, not worth taking pictures off. I show a small selection of the people. Excuse me the strange way of placing the photo's but I mostly can't place them in the position I would prefer them to be. I was lucky to be able to dance with a few of these people. I also spoke with two guys having fun, one from Israel, ...

Animals, more than only meat...

Dear, Recently I heard a moving story on the radio. It was about an experiment with mice, and it demonstrated that not only humans have a conscience but even mice have one. The experiment was as follows: there were two boxes and in each one was a mouse. These mice could see each other. One mice could take food and be happy. However, there was only one problem: whenever the mouse took food, in the other box the other mouse received an electrical shock and died. The mouse that took the food could see the effect of its actions and learned quickly that the dead of the other mouse was related with taken food. So, the mouse decided not to eat anymore and thereby stopped killing the mouse in the other box. The person who told the story said the mouse hungered itself to death, illustrating that the mouse had a conscience. I don't know how often this experiment was repeated to see whether all mice have a conscience. However, I hope the scientists also had a conscience and that they didn...

Entropy always increasing?

Recently I saw some dust. They were cluttered together so I could simply pick them up and remove them. Then, I started thinking. Scientists say that in a closed area, entropy remains the same or increases but can never decrease. Is this really so? In my case with the dust: after cleaning my house, my house smells fresh and is a little shiny; entropy is low but will soon (immediate) start to increase again. Dust will appear originating from e.g. clothes, and after a few days it is impossible to see I cleaned my house; it simply looks clean. After more time more dust is made, and people start seeing that the house is dirty, I should start cleaning again. Entropy is at its greatest and energy is needed to tidy again. However, from a certain moment onwards, I think entropy reached its maximum and will decrease again until a certain level where a steady state arrives, and this because everywhere there is energy that stops the increase in energy. In some areas dust will stick together, ...

Poets

Some time ago, I was given a few poets, more precisely Peat Poets. Here I will write them down. They are marked as Craig Stobo 2006. Unspoken Comma A silence is a pause, a pause is a moment, a moment is a thought, a thought begets a question, a question demands an answer, an answer preceded by a silence. 30.xi.02 Andrew kicked a ball blootered three past the Killie: Maryhill worshipped Firestarters Streaming filaments blazing down from outer space: Leonids shower. Star-Crossed Lovers Following their whims in daybreak's ashen stillness, kissing until warm, lovers embrace snow, transforming flakes to water, drowning each other; snatched up from this world, placed in heaven by angels: binary starlight.   I will publish in future more poems, and with a little more depth.

Vegetarian

Image
Since about two years I am (mostly) vegetarian. Normally, I eat only vegetables together with eggs and cheese, so I am not completely against animal food. Cheese, milk and egg products are from animals but one does not have to kill an animal to eat it. I know, to have these products animals might suffer as they are not free. But then, even plants have to be killed to be eaten and I am sure, the plants don't like that too. Mostly, the only reason why I eat meat is not to offend a person who invited me for a dinner and did his best to prepare the food. Below some examples of food I have recently eaten. The first one with recipient. I used mushrooms, spring onions, aubergine and red and (from my own plant) yellow peppers. When cooking vegetarian, I always try to use lots of colours so it looks nice and taste good. Only green is boring, even for the taste. These were fried together in a home-made olive oil. Then I added broccoli that I had cooked before and, of course I use different...

A single man

Last week, I saw the film 'A single man'. It is a beautiful film ... until the end. The film starts with the main person drawning, so you know that the film will be a little depressing. Then the film tells why he is drawning (in fact he wasn't, he is only dreaming and you understand during the course of the movies why he feels so bad). His lover of many years died in a car accident, and the main person finds it difficult to adjust to life without him. He meets many people and in the end, he wants to life again. And then, he dies. Who invented such an end? Gays have to die, or become crazy but certainly, it cannot go well. I felt emotional untill almost the end, and then he died. It was one of the worst ends of a movie I have ever seen, I even got an headache when I left, such was the difference with what we expected. I only can say, gays are a jealous lot of people who don't want the best for their partner, even not after they are dead. To understand this, you have to s...
